Frictions, the ESALA Public Lecture Series 2020-21, challenged architecture, landscape architecture and related fields to address three interconnected themes: Decolonisation, Ecology and Practice.

Frictions highlighted ESALA’s ethos of critical engagement with the social and ecological urgencies of our time. This programme of events contributed to ongoing debates in research, practice and pedagogy by celebrating a diversity of voices and a multiplicity of approaches, and included a stellar list of speakers: Samaneh Moafi, TAKA Architects, Hélène Frichot, Ahmed Ansari, Jane Hutton, O’Donnell + Tuomey, Hélène Binet, Samia Henni, Giorgos Kallis, Cooking Sections, Katja Grillner, Flores + Prats, Design Earth, Counterspace, IF-DO, and Dima Srouji.
